Danspunt is subsidized as an umbrella organization for amateur arts through the Amateur Arts Decree, with funding granted in five-year policy periods. Our current recognition runs until the end of 2026. We are actively preparing our new policy plan for 2027–2031, which must be submitted by December 1, 2025.

Where do we stand now?

We are designing and writing the new policy plan under the guidance of a process facilitator, Wim Van Leeuwen from Coaster Consulting.

This process involves numerous discussions with stakeholders, brainstorming sessions with our team and board, setting dreams and making choices, and defining both strategic and operational objectives.

And we need your input!

Of course, we are not doing this alone: we are forming focus groups with key figures from our sector and checking in with you—dance instructors, choreographers, and directors of dance schools and groups. In short, the people for whom we do what we do!

Our Six Core Missions

A new Amateur Arts Decree has been introduced, outlining six core missions that every umbrella organization for amateur arts must fulfill:

  1. Develop a tailored service-oriented operation for amateur artists, considering different forms of expression and developments within the artistic discipline, with a strong focus on support, guidance, and talent development.
  2. Act as a center of expertise for the artistic discipline by collecting, developing, and sharing relevant knowledge and information, potentially including a documentation center or library, and by serving as a key point of contact for relevant stakeholders.
  3. Develop an international presence to facilitate the exchange of amateur artists across borders.
  4. Collaborate with other subsidized umbrella organizations for amateur arts to operate efficiently and maximize the sharing of knowledge and best practices.
  5. Work with other sectors, with a particular focus on professional arts and part-time arts education.
  6. Develop a financial support tool, using specifically allocated funds, to stimulate the growth and development of amateur artists or amateur arts groups within the respective artistic discipline.

In spring 2026, we will find out the subsidy amount for the next policy period. In fall 2026, a management agreement will be signed with the Minister of Culture, outlining our responsibilities and the associated funding.
