This workshop will be given in Dutch

In this workshop, you will experience a combination of movement situations and individual exercises. The rhythm of the society we live in influences our physiology, our thinking, and our daily behavior. We will explore how stressors and pressure affect our perception, physical reactions, and ability to act creatively. Expect a dynamic exploration space where you practice alone, participate in observation exercises, and are tested in partnering situations. How adaptive is your movement in complex situations? Where do you tend to store tension in your body? What are you holding onto psycho-physically that could liberate your movement?

During this workshop, you will experience:

  • Zero Forms to improve communication between your joints
  • Coordinations for elastic and effortless strength
  • Rhythmic and coordinative movements that test your ability to decode new information and nourish your elastic capacity
  • Non-linear movement situations to test your behavioral flexibility

The aim of this workshop is to support your imagination, improvisation, and creativity. These aspects are essential for navigating through life’s obstacles and opportunities. Some experiences you can expect, as described by previous participants:

  • Map your physical boundaries in motion
  • Learn physical & mental shaping tools to avoid losing yourself
  • Understand yourself better in action
  • Harmonize efficiency, structure, and discipline with exploration and play

This workshop serves as a basic introduction for further study of the Fighting Monkey Practice. FM-practice was developed by founders Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea.

Why take part in this workshop according to programmer Anne-Lore?

Physical games develop responsiveness, coordination, mindset, concentration, and interaction with fellow dancers. I use this practice as inspiration, as a warm-up, as research with my young students, or to bring them into the here and now in 10 minutes, away from school troubles, straight into the dance studio.

Who is Olivier Goetgeluck?
